New Sonic Strategies esittelee Alrealon-yhtiön artisteja vuosilta 2012-2013. Tyyli vaihtelee folk-henkisestä kokeilusta jazz-improon, dronesta klassispohjaiseen äänimaisemaan. Osa raidoista jää kivoiksi mutta mitäänsanomattomiksi, mutta yhtäkään todella heikkoa ei oikeastaan mukana. Muutama tosin eivät niiden ideat aivan kanna koko pituuten asti mielenkiintoisina.

Helminä esiin nousee useita: esimerkiksi Black Saturnin biitit-ja-puhe -teos The Blessing Tree tuo hyvällä tavalla mieleen Genesis P-Orridgen tuotannon. Rasplynin 14 Black Clouds menisi hyvin modernin klassisen kuvioissa, harmonisine pianoineen ja puhaltimineen. ASVAn ja Philippe Petit’n Alter puolestaan on hieno jousinen ambient-teos. Voiton silti vie JOHN 3:16, maanisen pauhaavalla orgaanisella ambientillaan. Levyn tuotantojälki on kuitenkin häiritsevän ohut, tuntuu monesti siltä että kappaleet pääsisivät paremmin oikeuteen, jos niissä olisi hiukkasen enemmän täyteläisyyttä.

New Sonic Strategies presents artists from the Alrealon label, ranging from 2012-2013. Styles vary from folk-spirited experimentation to jazz-based improv, from drones to classically based soundscapes. Some of the tracks remain just nice but insignificant, but there isn’t really a weak piece included. On some, it must however be said, the ideas don’t carry the pieces as interesting for the entire song length. Several gems arise from the list. For example, The Blessing Tree, a beats-and-speech track by Black Saturn, resembles the works of Genesis P-Orridge in a good way. Rasplyn’s  14 Black Clouds would fit right in with modern classical, with its harmonic piano and horns. Alter, by ASVA and Philippe Petit, is in turn a fine string-ambient work. Above them all is nevertheless JOHN 3:16, with his manically roaring organic ambient. The production quality of the album is however disturbingly thin, making it often seem that the songs could have reached their potential a bit better, if they had a more robust production style t support them.
