Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio on nyt selvästi muuttanut linjaansa, askeleella popimpaan suuntaan, levy-yhtiön vaihtumisen myötä. Selkeämpien konerumpujen tuleminen mukaan kuvaan ei varmasti miellytä kaikkia, eikä laulukaan - aivan kuten ei aikanaan miellyttänyt siirtyminen monotonisesta puhemusiikista apokalyptiseen folkkiin. Heidän tappionsa. Minua se nimittäin miellyttää, erittäin paljon. Ensi kuulemalta osa kappaleista kuulosti vain korneilta, mutta sen jälkeen ne yksi toisensa jälkeen alkoivat soimaan päässäni. Monissa on hyvin paljon samaa sävyä kuin yhtyeen Triore-yhteisprojektin tuotannossa, hyvällä tavalla, mutta osa on silti varsin keskinkertaista, ainakin OREn kokonaistuotantoon suhteuttaen.

Jo alusta asti kolahtaneet raidat ovat levyn parasta antia: suloisen kyyninen A World Not So Beautiful [A Song 4 The Emperor], upea “et ole mitään, orjani” -fetissi-pop  I M B E C I L E, My Idiot Lover ja aivan erityisesti mahtava A Song 4 Hate & Devotion. Samat kappaleet on myöskin valittu mukaan levyn cd-painoksen luksusversioon sisältyvään remix-kiekkoon. Muut kaksi noista uudelleenmiksauksista ovat todella hienoja, mutta Another Song 4 Hate & Devotion aivan loistava, vieden valmiiksi jumalaisen  kappaleen entistä suurempiin korkeuksiin. In High Heels, Through Nights Of Broken Glass [Mmx] ei sen sijaan tarjoa juurikaan uutta vanhaan hittiin, ikävä kyllä.

Koko paketti osoittaa, että itseään jo jonkin aikaa toistanut yhtye on kyennyt uusiutumaan, jopa kosiskelemaan laajempaa yleisöä, silti tinkimättä oleellisista palasistaan tipaakaan. Jotkut Tomas Petterssonin lyriikoista ovat yhä hieman turhan ennalta-arvattavia, mutta paatoksellinen tulkinta sallii sen hämmästyttävän hyvin. Jopa ollessaan korni ORE osaa olla vaikuttava.

Levyn eri painoksilla on varsin eri sisältö. Vinyylipainos on ylivoimaisen kaunis, mutta CD:n luksusversio sisältää eniten herkkuja. Kannattaa katsoa minkä niistä valitsee. Joku joka tapauksessa ainakin, sillä tämä levy on todellakin syytä omistaa.

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio has now clearly changed its style, one step popwards, along with the new record label. That drum machines now have a more prominent role, as does singing (instead of just spoken texts), will not appeal to all - but so was it also when the band switched from monotonous intonation-music  to apocalyptic folk. Their loss. For it pleases me, a great deal. On the first try, many of the songs seemed just corny, but one after another made their way into becoming earworms. Many of them have the same qualities as did the shared project Triore’s  works, in a good sense, but some are just average, especially compared to ORE’s general quality level.

The tracks that seemed great from the start remain its key contributions: the sweetly cynical A World Not So Beautiful [A Song 4 The Emperor], the “you are nothing, slave” fetish-pop piece I M B E C I L E, My Idiot Lover, and especially the magnificent A Song 4 Hate & Devotion. These three songs have also been chosen to be on the remix disc included in the luxury version. The other two are exceptionally fine, but Another Song 4 Hate & Devotion is sheer brilliance, taking an already divine track into even greater heights. In High Heels, Through Nights Of Broken Glass [Mmx], however, sadly does not offer much new to an old hit.

The whole package proves that this band, which has been repeating itself a lot, has found a way for renewal. It has found a broader appeal, without losing one bit of its essence. Some of Tomas Pettersson’s lyrics are still a bit too predictable, but his pathos-filled interpretation allows well for that sort of thing. Even when corny, ORE remains impressive.

The different editions of this album have different contents. The vinyl version is superior in beauty, but the luxury edition of the cd contains the most delicacies. Be careful which one you choose. Choose at least one, though, for this is an album that you will definitely want to own.
