Mathias Josefsonin (mm. Moljebka Pvlse) omista levyistä ei aina tiedä mikä on found sound -osastoa, mikä sävellettyä. Niin on nytkin. Night is the best time here on kuin kuivien lehtien rätinää, tai nuotiota, outona kollaasina. Todellisuudessa soittimena on kuitenkin alkuperäisessä installaatiossa olleet paperilaput ja tuulettimet. Teoksesta on hyvin vaikeaa saada kiinni.

It somehow reminds me of Earth puolestaan on samaa, mutta kaikuisampana ja matalammilla taajuuksilla, ja se toimii erinomaisesti. Levy on tribuutti keinotekoiselle äänimaisemalle Andrei Tarkovskin Solaris-filmatisoinnissa, mutta on silti hyvin itsenäinen eikä muuten muistuta elokuvan soundtrackia.

Kiehtova luomus, mutta tuskin kovin suuren yleisön makuun.

Of Mathias Josefson’s (Moljebka Pvlse) own records one does not always know what is his, what is found sound. The same here. Night is the best time here is like the rustling of dry leaves, or the crackling of a campfire, in a strange collage. In truth, the instruments are pieces of paper and some fans, which made up the original art installation. The piece is very hard to really grasp. It somehow reminds me of Earth, in turn, is the same stuff, but with more echo and a lower frequency. It works extremely well. This record is a tribute to Andrei Tarkovsky’s film version of Solaris, but is nevertheless an individual work, and does not resemble the soundtrack of that movie.

This is a fascinating product, but quite probably of interest to just a very narrow audience.
