All My Faith Lost jatkaa yhä vanhalla linjallaan, ohuen ethereal-tavaran parissa. | Artisti: All My Faith Lost...

| All My Faith Lost
continues on its old course,
with thin Ethereal. The music is thus made out of mostly guitar and
soft female vocals. As one can deduce from the album's name, it has
been heavily influenced by art classics - but this isn't something that
really shows in the music itself. What one actually gets is just "nice,
beautiful background music" without much of a greater meaning.
The voice of Viola Roccagli is pleasant to listen to, and it
has this time been given a nice production, making it stand out better.
The pretty backgrounds and the nice singing just aren't enough to hold
the essentially uninteresting music aloft. Especially given that bands
like Dead Can Dance and Amber Asylum, who have used similar
material to a much greater effect, exist. Compared to average Ethereal
albums these days, The Hours does work rather well, and has a rich set
of facets to it. So even though it does seem rather uninteresting to
me, it may well find friends in gothic etc. circles. That wouldn't surprise
me at all, and I too must admit that Ivory is actually
quite fine a song. Jiituomas
